1.Introduction of GPS L70 EASY

GPS L70 EASY or ATC-E13 is one of EASY BOARD series designed by AT-COM base on feature of L70. Product uses the extremely compact L70 Module of Quectel. L70 supports 22 tracking channels and 66 Acquisition channels and NMEA 0183, PMTK protocol.

b. Quectel L70 Module

L70 is a module of Quectel that brings the high performance of MTK positioning engine to the industrial applications with compact profile, ultra low power consumption and fast positioning capability.

c. ATCBus Socket

The ATCBus Socket integrate pins allows users to connect to products that supports ATCBus easily. All in one ATCBus.

L70 module operates at a voltage range of 2.8 to 4.3V, with the GPS L70 Easy product, the module being designed to run at 3.3V as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure stable features. We used LDO TJ62FP33GSF of  HTC with output current can be up to 250mA

d.  Logic Voltage Selection

To communicate with external devices with logic 5V/3V, the board has a interface with 3.3V/5V logic voltage selection for user can choose depend their application. When manufacturing, the default logic voltage is 5V logic level.

ATC-E13 uses bidirection logic translator TXB0106PWR of Texas Instruments, it can use to convert logic level from 1.2~3.6V to 1.65~5.5V and bidirection with speed up to 100Mbps. Logic level of microcontroller normal is 3.3V/5V, so voltage translator IC need to use to compatible signal level.

How to change the communication voltage:

  • Remove the 0R resistor (size 0603) at the unwanted position.
  • Solder the 0R resistor (size 0603) to the desired position of 3.3V or 5V.

ATC-E13 has a connector for an external active antenna that could be used alongside patch antenna. How to change the communication voltage:

  • Remove the 0R resistor (size 0603) at the unwanted position.
  • Solder the 0R resistor (size 0603) to the desired position of pasive or active antenna.

e. Antenna GPS

AT-COM has integrated Jinchang's GPS Dielectric Antenna JCJZ2540, which combines standard design with the use of antenna amplifiers and filters to optimize and maximize the ability to catch the coordinates:

  • Frequency:1575.42MHz±3MHz.
  • VSWR: 1.5:1.
  • Bandwidth: ±5MHz.
  • Impedance: 50Ω.
  • Demension : 25x25x4mm.

f. Led Indicator

  • Led PWR: Always power on when ATC-E13 is powered.
  • Led PPS: one pulse per second when GPS signal was fixed. Control via PMTK command.
